My "sew" piece -- Simply apron

Is time to play my new toy—sewing machine!! Thanks to Aunty Tan who sold the sewing machines to me was patient enough to teach me how to operate the machine and some basic tricks of sewing last week.

As usual, before really know sewing, I do my shopping first. I bought a lot of difference foots, needle, colourful thread, scissor, fabrics and some stuffs that I wanted to do some alteration. But right after I jump start it, I realised sewing wasn’t as easy as I thought. Perhaps Aunty Tan make it look easy to me. Well, after a few rounds of failures, I finally able to add some trims on my apron! See how it turns out! **err... please do not look at the details**

The apron that I bought from Artfriend...

After my "magic" touch...

Although I have spray glimmer mist and sew some ribbons, trims and stamping on my apron, I still find it look very plain. So I have decided to make myself a brooch with my initial on it.

First I pick a little girl motif from a fabric and cut it out, and then paste it down with a card board. Following, stuffing some sponge and sew around its’ perimeter. After that I used hot gun to secure it on the pin and finish it with some beads, button and font chipboard. I tied pink gauze at the corner to give a final soft touch. I totally love the end result and it definitely completed my “artistic” apron look.

Last warming, don’t look at the details too close... haha...

May, National scrapbooking month

It has been busy month for me; I can’t even make time to take photos of my layouts although I have completed it long ago… finally there are here to share with you…

Beginning of the month I come across this website:- CreativeScrappers which offer many cool sketches and incredible DT works sharing. Immediately I was inspired and scrapped 3 layouts based on CreativeScrappers sketches

This layout is based on 27th April 2010 CreativeScrapper sketch; it is my favorite photo of us in Borobudur, Indonesia. I played with glimmer mist to make the background look more interesting *after attending MWL Jasmine’s glimmer mist class, this is my first trial with a bit of “pro” techniques, Lol…*

An old photo of me in Rome, in front of Trevi Fountain; due to the low resolution of the picture, I have edited it to monotone with single colour and printed in smaller size. So sketch 92 is perfect for me to follow and scrap with small size photo. Here I added the tag at the side which I thought I’ll do some journaling, but I realised that I can’t recall much about the trip as it is almost 7 years ago. So I decided to leave it blank *sob sob*

This is one of the photos of my recent Siem Reap trip; I love it so much because the photo was taken in a local bookstore which gives a very vintage style and feel. Sketch 102 works for me as I can layer difference pattern papers with newspaper, letter, postage stamp, music note and map images to tell my story “Dedicated to TRAVEL, my favourite subject.”

Talking about Siem Reap trip, I decided to make a present to my friends YY and BH about our fun experience together for their keepsakes. For YY, I altered a photo frame which I bought from Daiso, and printed a photo of 3 of us in front of Angkor Wat, I hope she will like it.

Still thinking of what to do for BH, perhaps another photo frame alteration?

Shanghai Box

Finally I finish my Shanghai alter box which I did half way in year 2009. But I just finished the cover. I have yet to work on the inside and contents. I intend to scrap all my good memories during my 3 years stay in shanghai but I feel exhausted right now. Guess I need another years to finish it…

Jia you jia you lor... **means move on move on... continue working on the pages to fill it up!

Tin it...

For this month’s Websterspages Challenge-Spring into Gift Giving, we are asked to make a fun altered tin or box filled with goodies for a friend. Immediately I thought of the tin container that I had for a long time which I didn’t use it at all. And I also wanted to give away some fruit jams that received from my French colleague because I know I can’t finish it all by myself. With this gift idea, I have transformed a simple black tin to a cherry fruity packaging!

Before "Make over"

Now...

I used Sizzlits Dies – Decorative Label set#3 (6563220) to cut out the label shape with foil sticker, to make it look like a metal tag. Lastly I decided to add a handle for the tin so that it complete the “gift” looks. What do you think?
